And where can I get the 6811 tournament cloth? I tried google but nothing specific. Just loads of sites writing about the change from gold to tournament or whatever and the only site I found that is actually selling it is this: http://www.bbbilliards.co.uk/product.php?prod=630 and that doesn't seem like the tournament model...
Thx

We at our club have 8 tables and they'll be needing refitting this summer, at least 4 of them.
We play on Strachen gold at the moment, whats the Hainsworth match like in comparrison? How hardy are both types of cloth if you where to compare them?
Is it worth changing from one to the other?
What we want is, as much speed as possible and a cloth that will last at least 10 years.
No! seriously now, speed and as much wear time as possible.
Anybody got any real idea?
Thanks
Brian.
The strachan cloths were very hit and miss. Some were decent and lasted over 2 years in some cases, others were slow and not very responsive at all. As the quality seemed to go down I'm glad that we now use the Hainsworth cloths. They are easier to brush and iron, the only problem is the cloth seems finer. The cloth we have is called ultrafine on the box they are delivered in, so probably won't last as long as the strachans, but on the plus side they are faster and more responsive. So the question you need to ask yourself is, do you want quality over durability?

It seems strange that the Hainsworth cloths for snooker and billiards are in two standards (Match and Smart), it is very worrying that Milliken? Strachan? West Of England? and their No 10 and whatever variant of 6811 has become so vague, to the point where you are not sure what you may be purchasing. It is a shame, too, that these "uncertain" cloths from a mill that used to produce quality cloth until it was acquired by an American company, are no longer reliable and not what you could expect from the original mill's production standards.Last edited by moglet; 26 May 2008, 09:00 PM.

tivoli147,
No 10 cloths are, as in a previous post, fit once and throw away. The quality of these cloths today are not a patch on what they used to be even ten years ago. Attempts have been made to refit these cloths recently as ex tournament cloths, it does not work - all that the buyer can say and perhaps rely on is that the cloth he has bought is second hand and already compromised, yes it may be a No 10 but it will not perform to its original specification.Last edited by moglet; 20 June 2008, 10:35 PM.

All due respect, but how long have you been fitting snooker cloths? More than the 17 years that I have? I also own a snooker club where a professional plays, and his table is fitted with ex-tournament cloths. For £ 140 you are getting a bargain. Yes, in an ideal world everyone would like a brand new cloth but we all don`t have £ 350 (Cost price to purchase, fitting cost extra) to buy a new No 10 cloth.
