Would a 30 pocket billiard table improve your game? This was apparently what the Dutch traders in Japan were using in the 18th century. The illustration is detail from a hand-painted scroll depicting the Dutch East India Company's compound at Deshima. The game pre-dates the introduction of the red ball, and shows the use of the "port" and "king" set up at either end of the table. Presumably the duties of the referee also involved catching the ball.
