  • Dismantling a full size snooker table?

One for the practical TSF members.

Does anyone have a definitive guide for dismantling a full size snooker table?

Like the tools that would be involved, the order in which you would do it and any do's and dont's along the way?

    Thanks!

Not an easy job. How much does all the slate pieces weigh? Something like 0.5 of a tonne?

              Dismantling and assembly

I bought a full size table, and paid for the table makers to dismantle it, but watched, took notes and asked questions about the assembly, levelling etc while they did it. It was well worth the extra cash and the blokes from Heiron and Smith(the makers) were excellent. They also packed it on the trailer for me so I could cart it the 900km home.

One tip for the cloth if you are putting it back on after the move - before you dismantle fully - when the cushions are removed and the cloth is still tacked on, run a thick black texta line around the top edge of the slate right around the table - that way when you go to put the cloth back on, you can get it in the right spot, with all the markings in the correct spot. If the cloth needs a bit more tension, just pull the black line over the edge a little more all the way around. It worked well for me.

Also make sure you get info on the correct order to tack the cloth on, and about levelling the table. A table maker should be able to give you this info.

              Cheers

Thanks for all the replies, I never thought about marking the cloth either...these useful little things!

Here are a couple of sites that I found:

                http://www.bosssnooker.com/cgi-bin/h...=howto_en.html

                http://www.fcsnooker.co.uk/latest%20...nstruction.htm

Some info there, but still some gaps.
