Don't cut down the legs. Children grow like weeds. Make him something on which to stand!

Across 8 legs the ton or so is well spread across 72 square feet. Put spreader pates under the legs to ensure each one is over at least 1 and preferably 2 joists. That way it should be OK. That is what we used to do with heavy safes which can be a ton and upwards but over maybe 3 square feet!

Any queries PM me or better still wait for Geoff Large to post. He is probably a good source for a small table anyway.

For young children , Riley used to make a 4ft by 2ft with SLATE bed , table top models and some came with legs , these are the smallest Riley tables made , they where made just like the riley diner tables , with proper cushions , with cushion cloth retaining slips just like a full size , I have to admit I have a 4ft and a 5ft in the back of the Garage but they are buried , they would require refurbing , i.e cushion woodwork repolishing and new rubber etc , then recover plus nets and leathers.

if someone wants these two table top models I could get them out and I am willing to sell both for just £60 just to free up the space , you could then have a home project to do up for youre child , these have to be better than an argos table.

I also have a Riley Rise for playing on and fall for dining on table 6ft by 3ft with cabriole legs and four table top leafs in mahogany that also requires stripping and doing up complete with matching original scoreboard , £650 as it is or £1600 fully refurbed .

I am so busy doing recovering work and Table moves I just have not got the time to do them up at the moment , I also have a10ft that I am stripping and polishing for a client at the moment too

I think I speak for everybody on the site, and certainly for all who have met Geoff, in saying we are pleased to hear he is being kept so busy.
