  • How to level the table??

I have tried all sorts of settings with the leg levellers on my 6ft table, but either one side or the other keeps rolling off and the closer to the cushion, the worse the problem. How do I correctly level this table? It has brass leg levellers that screw into the legs and you loosen or tighten them, depending on how high or low you want that particular table to be.

I hope the table hasn't got some kind of design fault that means it isn't level nearer the cushions! I paid over £220 for it! I even tried putting pieces of carpet under the different legs. Do I have to get someone specialised in to do it? I don't want to spend any more money on the table unless I really have to (unless it's for accessories, such as balls or rests etc). If anyone has an idea, please help. Surely I can get the table level? It isn't a foldup table that is easily knocked, it has good, sturdy legs and is rock solid even if you bump into it, so I don't get what's going on here.

This is the table I have:

I am not an expert by any means, but this is what I would suggest from a common sense point of view.

First of all ensure the table is located on a solid floor, i.e. not carpet.

Screw all legs fully down. Then place four spirit levels along all four sides of the table. Try to use appropiate length spirit levels for the widths and lengths of the table, as this will provide a higher degree of accuracy. Levelling should then become a relatively easy job, as you adjust the legs one by one.

As I said, I am not an expert! But this is how I would go about the job myself.

Well, my room has carpet, so are you saying it's not possible to get it level? I used to have a foldup 6ft table when I was younger and I'm sure we got that one level (old fashioned way, wedge something under the offending legs!!!!). This one should be doable as well, since it's a much more solid table, as the legs aren't fold ups. Thanks for the heads up re the spirit levels, should help.

You could cut a bit out the carpet and rest it on the floorboards lol

if the carpet is thick it may need some time to settle into the carpet, even the best fitters let a table settle for a few days after they put the slates on big tables that are are on carpet for that reason.

also i dont recon you will need any rests for a 6' table,

enjoy your new table, it looks great.

Thanks for that mate, but I really do not want to cut holes in my carpet (!)

Thanks for your help and yes, the table does look great and now it's got proper Aramith balls, it also plays great, apart from the roll-off. As for the rests, I'm not very tall, so a rest/spider will be needed for shots near the end of the table. If I was tall, I couldn't have the table in my room: the 36in cues I need to use would undoubtedly be far too short for me to use comfortably, but since I'm not, I can use a 36in cue as well as I can use a fullsize or 48in cue. As they say, behind every cloud is a sliver lining!!

I sure do hope you get that roll off sorted out!!!! until then just shoot harder.

No table is perfect, I have been lucky to have a number of tables over the years and not one was perfect, but I sure did enjoy them all. HAve a great New Year and let us know when you run a century!!!

Thanks and Happy New Year to you too! I'm sure if my mate got his 4ft table level all those years ago he'll be able to do the same with my table. As for the century, well, it's beginning to come back to me. What annoys me is I can get a ton of sidespin and topspin, but very little backspin! I appreciate you giving me helpful, constructive answers, rather than telling me to send back a perfectly good 6ft table and get a pool table. I don't want a pool table, I want a snooker table. If I wanted a pool table, then that's what I would've got! Furthermore, if the table needs moving slightly, good luck doing it if it has a slate bed! With this one, two people can easily lift and move it. I'd love a slate bed, but it's simply not a workable solution in the room where the table is.

My Aramith snooker balls are now on their way, so we can start playing snooker again! No one wants to play with the rubbishy snooker balls when we've got the nice, shiny, responsive Aramith pool balls!!
