Interconnect Dutch Open 2009

Just wondering if anybody here knows if this event is taking place this year and if so which dates, Is it on the same weekend before Christmas?

interesting no replies!!! Is the belgium open on this year as well? Was sept last year have seen nothing this year

Last June I was in Duffel for the EBSA European Championships and Play-off. They were organised in "De pollepel", the same venue that had hosted the Belgian Open. I asked Tino De Witte, the son of the owners and a very good snooker players himself (at Belgian level) if the Belgian Open was to happen again and when. Tino's answer was that it was still not decided because the event had not been profitable, on the contrary. Which makes you think because it had a good line-up with many household names (Maguire, Selby, Davis, Doherty, Dott, Perry, Robertson, Williams, Day, Stevens, Ebdon, Walden - who won it - and more, and Luca Brecel the local wonderkid, and last but not least Michaela Tabb!). Having spoken with the pros at the time they were very satisfied with the conditions, the way they were looked after and with the audience (number and behaviour). It was streamed by cueport also. It was a success, no doubt.
So if that wasn't profitable, it's no surprise that it's a struggle to organise events.
