  • Irish Snooker Open

I was asked to give people a heads up about a Pro-Am event (Irish Snooker Open) which will be held in the Gleneagle Hotel in Kilarney Ireland in December.

The organiser is aiming to attact 160 players which will be split into 32 groups with the top 2 players progressing.

He aims to have a minimum of 40 professionals with some of the top pro's after been approched already. He had 30 of the top 50 last time this event was run in Kilarney a few years ago.

Here are the basic details (To be confirmed)
    Players: 160 Max
    Entry: 150 Euro
Groups: Groups of 5 players (Best of 5 frame matches)
Venue: INEC, Kilarney (Same venue as the World Series last week)
Tables: 21 tables installed including 1 for possible TV coverage
Ref's: They aim to have a ref for all matches (Free accomodation and meals for any ref's willing to travel and help out)
Accomodation: Accomodation can be provided in the Gleneagle Hotel, Brehon Hotel (Right Nextdoor) or Appartments (Next Door)

With full entry they aim to have the following proposed prizefund:

    Winner : 10,000 Euro
    Runner Up: 5,000
    Semi's : 2,500
    Quarters: 1,500
    Last 16: 800
    Last 32 : 300
    High Break : 1000

This event will be huge and will be run from the 15th to the 18th of December.

Entries may be restricted with the following quota's
    Pro's : 50
    Irish Players: 50
    Northern Ireland : 20
    UK and Europe: 40

When the event is confirmed they will have a website live that will take online entries and entry will have to be paid online on a first come first served basis.

This event comes after the success of the World Series Event in the venue last week and the organisers wish to bring back the hugely successful pro-am that ran for 3 years at the venue and present the winners trophy in memory of Billiy Telford who passed away a few weeks ago.

you mentioned one of the tables could have cameras, is any of it likely to be streamed online? (eg. final, semis)

He is approaching several broadcasters about covering some of the event due to the players that should be involved.
If it is not covered on TV then we will certainly look into streaming several tables.
