Anyone in Edinburgh looking for someone to practice with?

    Snooker Practice

I'd be happy to discuss to see if we can work something out. I play my mate once a week (normally Wednesdays) at Locarno in Slateford. Work and family committments don't allow my mate any more time than this. I occasionally do a little practice by myself but don't really think its helping me improve. I don't think I'm anywhere near good enough to play league snooker but have been looking around for a regular handicap knock-out tournament. I feel the competition against players of various standards may help.

Bigmeek, you definitely only get better by playing better players I reckon aye, I'd prob be up for the odd practise session as, like I've said in another post, considering seeing if I'm good enough - even with a handicap lol - to play in a league

Hi again Mark. Things have moved on since my 2009 post. Forum member Ashbash invited me to sign for the Shandon A team. I got my handicap sorted out and have been a regular player on Thursday nights. Its really enjoyable and has helped my game. Mixed results tho..... last season we won the Premier League and I was ecstatic! This season we are in danger of relegation mainly due to some severe cuts in our handicaps. We might be looking to sign a new player for next year so if Shandon/Locarno is handy for you then get in touch.
There's a Sunday afternoon handicap at the Locarno. Starts at about 1.30pm. I don't play in it myself due to family commitments but you could give it a go. It would give you an indication of what your handicap should be and sharpen up your game. I'm happy to do some introductions for you if you want.

Hi, are we the only two that will post from Edinburgh?! hehe, sure we're not. Good luck with the relegation battle, and I'm lucky my work's fairly flexible so could do the odd Sunday yeah, shandon/locarno are only a bus away for me so yeah, that'd be great - appreciate all your help

Yeah not many folks from Edinburgh on here. Ashbash and Gem play with me for Shandon A. If you fancy watching to ascess standards etc then come along to the Shandon on Thursday night at 7.30. We're playing British Legion and its a must win game for us. Next door at the Locarno The Allstars will be playing and I would say they have the best players in Edinburgh.

Funnily enough, I was in Newcastle Labour club last night when a stag party of around 20 lads came in. They were all from Edinburgh and among them was Keith Chalmers, 3 times East Scotland champion. Great bunch of lads really enjoying themselves.
Whoever said "Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing" was an arsehole.

Small world. Keith is a great player. Plays for Corstorphine B in Edinburgh league and has the season's highest break so far. 86 I think so might be beaten.

I'll actually be playing in Glasgow with my mate on Thursday, continuing our "race to 100", 44-31 up so hope I can retain the trophy!!
