  • Nottingham Grand Prix - Win £1,000

    Pegasus Snooker Club
    Presents
    THE 2010 NOTTINGHAM GRAND PRIX
    'Race for a Grand’

    Champion wins £1,000
    Runner-up wins £200
    Third Place wins £100
Pound a Point Highest Break of the Series Prize ie: a 147 break will pay out £147*

    ************************************************** ****

    How it works:

There will be 10 Sunday tournaments (3rd or 5th Sunday of each month, Jan – Oct) followed by the grand finals on Sunday 21st November. Each monthly qualifying tournament will offer a prize fund between £65 - £125 for the winner and £25-40 for the runner-up. There may also sometimes be a plate competition, which will offer between £40-£70 for the winner and between £15-£25 for the runner-up. The entrance fee for each event shall be £15, which guarantees you at least two matches (min 5 frames).

So how do you get your hands on the big £1,000 prize fund?

Each of the 10 Sunday Competitions are technically qualifying events and will offer you ranking points (to be known as ‘the race for a grand’). Although you do not need to attend each qualifying event, obviously the more events you do attend the more ranking points you are likely to rack-up. Two of the monthly events will be ‘Bumper Sundays’ offering double ranking points. At the end of the final qualifying event in October the top 16 ranked players in the ‘race for a grand’ will qualify for the grand finals in November and a chance to win a grand! Whilst, the highest break of all the 11 events will win that break amount in pounds ie a maximum break will pay out £147. (* should 2 or 3 people etc equal the highest break the amount will be shared equally)

Each monthly event will use the popular group stage format (3-4 players) to offer at least two matches for each player. When a field is of more than 24 entrants then a straight knock-out competition will take place with a plate tournament for all 1st and sometimes 2nd round losers. Each event will use a handicap system… scratch – 28 (max). All players will start with a 14 handicap (therefore the 1st event will basically be a scratch tournament) and will be adjusted by 7 after each event ie: failure to get through the 1st round or group stage will put you up 7 whilst those who reach the semi-finals will go down 7 for the next event etc.
