      Very, very difficult indeed.

The thing is if it's a genuine pro am with all levels of amateurs then you have to handicap the pros so they have to be at their best to win.

The pro always has the option to pot all the balls and then the start doesn't matter.

Why on earth should a club player accept 21 from a pro when 80 is probably nearer the mark?

It really depends on the quality of the amateur!

I could quite happily accept 80 and still lose, but many of the youngsters I see in our EASB tournaments could quite happily play off scratch against the pros.

I have done Many and Used to Enter Loads aswell.

And too be 100% Honest you can never make everybody happy as I have Found out in the Past!

18-21 for Pro's is Good Start - As I have mentioned most Club Members can hit 40/50+ Breaks at Least and a Good Few 100+ Breaks.

As already said One Off Tourny's is Quite Hard to Judge but when on Regular Basis you would get to know who's who?

Good Luck with your Tourny, Wish I were alittle closer to you myself!

I did mention varying levels of amateurs.

The young up and commers are one thing, the club player is another.

Most club players will play their whole life and never score 40.

I have never been to a Club and seen Lots of Bad Players who cannot hit 40's/50's???

Dont wanna get into Row m8 but Most Members Practice abit and are Capable of Breaks!

My Point was .....Most People Entering these Tourny's...Well down here anyway are well Capable of Beating Good Players with 18/21 Start!

                      Ok, we'll agree to disagree.

The standard must be amazing down there.

I might not have agreed with a lot of what JB has said lately, but I'm with him on this one. Down in this part of the world, regular 50+ break merchants aren't too common at all. Maybe that's why the West Country hasn't produced too many pros!

You're both right. The overall standard in Wales is very high, and some clubs are phenomenal. Most clubs in most areas are filled with very average players. The better the standard, of course, the more likely that good players gravitate towards playing at that club.
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.
