  • Nottingham Grand Prix 3 - Win £1,000

    2010 Nottingham Grand Prix

Event 3, Sunday 21st March at Pegasus Snooker Club, Arnold.

Just a reminder that Event 3 of the Nottingham Grand Prix takes place this coming Sunday (21st March) at Pegasus Snooker Club, Arnold. Registration from 10:15am - 11am, £15 entrance fee.

Having listened to peoples views on the format i'm pleased to announce that we are ditching the group format which some found a little long winded and going for a straight knockout with a plate competition for all 1st & 2nd round losers. The main competition will now be the best of five frames from the 2nd round, whilst the Plate competition will be the best of three frames.

The reason i plugged for groups originally was to offer players at least 3 matches for their entrance fee and I am pleased to announce that this will still be the case despite the changes due to a 2 frame 'Ranking Match' being added to the day. Upon arrival and registration rather than standing around waiting for the draw to take place you will get to play someone of a similiar standard/handicap in a 2 frame 'Ranking Match' which will offer 250 ranking points per each frame won....Think of it as a warm-up match before the main event starts but with the added bonus of potentially an extra 500 ranking points! Please note that registration has been moved to the slightly earlier time of 10:15am to accomodate this warm-up match and although registration doesn't close until 11am the latest a ranking match can start will be 10:45am so make sure you get to the venue in plenty of time.

I have also plotted the two knockout competitions from 16-32 competitors so there will be no more waiting around for draws to be made which also slowed things down a little last time out.

Handicaps for Event 3 as follows:

    All New Players (+14)

    Scratch: Chris Winter
+7: Ashley Walker, Danny Castel-Nuovo, Jimmy Gratton, Wayne Martin, Chris Brooks.
+14: Nav Hussain, Stuart Ross, Martyn Taylor, Steve Butler, James Moore, Jason Stockton, Dave Bolton, Gavin Shirley, Stewart Crosswell, Jamie Sampson, Zed Zubair.
+21: Malc Belshaw, Lee Crombie, James Booth, Mike Langdon, James Notman, Sean Croft, Ken Michell, Daniel Norton, Jordan Parnham, Zeb Ahmed, Yasin Abbas, Rick Worrall.

I look forward to seeing you all this coming Sunday.

    Can't wait

        2010 Nottingham Grand Prix

Event 3 - Sunday March 21st, Pegasus Snooker Club

        STOCKTON SECURES FIRST EVENT WIN

Jason Stockton became the 3rd different Nottingham Grand Prix winner in as many events emphasizing the depth of quality fielded so far in this new tournament. The likeable Stoke potter won the final 3-2 holding his nerve in a tense final frame finish to see off Nav Hussain. In the opening round Stockton knocked in a 50 break as he swept aside Matlock’s Martyn Taylor three nil before an excellent 3-1 victory over the number one ranked player Chris Winter in which he knocked in a 53 break. In the semi-final his opponent Jamie Sampson was unfortunate to see the pink not only rattle in the pocket but jump up onto the frame and drop off the table to gift Stockton the chance he needed to secure a place in the final. Stockton who picked up 3,000 ranking points for his win has lept up the table from 13th to 4th place. Chris Winter remains in pole position followed by Nav Hussain and Wayne Martin. The Plate competition was won by Danny Castel-Nuovo, who beat Stewart Crosswell 3-1 in the final. We have managed to put aside another £100 towards the Finals prize fund which now stands at £350.
