be interesting to see how Luca does when presumably he joins the tour in 2011/2012.

so this spot now becomes discretionary and with the Scots place taken away too (I believe) there are 2 wildcards to allocate

The Scots do have a place - a play off was arranged, which was won by James McBain
      Janie Watkins

Yes the two opposing groups put forward their number 1 player, Ian Wells for the "existing NGB" and James McBain from the opposing group. James won the match 10-3 and I believe this had quite a bit to do with the match practice he has had all season, playing outside of the NGB, with almost all of the top players in Scotland playing this circuit, including Scott McKenzie, Anthony McGill, Robert Stephen, Bobby Cruickshanks etc. I'm sure Ian will improve if he takes part in the much stronger competitions.

Got this info from a committee member so maybe I am not giving out misinformation as you say
Perhaps you love saying that it is mis-information!!!

It's all very well for the High Priestess to come on here with a flippant statement like, it was "just one of those things" Sure it was! What kind of organization can arrange for the tables to be removed whilst there's still a competition to be played.
Quite frankly, EBSA seem to have very little interest in billiards, they lobby the help of EBOS, the best billiards organizers in the world, to run it for them and still manage to cock it up, not once but twice, in successive tournaments.

No response yet Topman to your post or indeed my one!!!!
I guess there is no arguing with the truth

Like you say, no argueing with the truth. Of course this is what comes when dealing with someone who sits at the top table on EBSA, someone who has no interest in billiards whatsoever, like the rest of her cronies.

oh dear more misinformation!! I DO NOT sit at any table with any cronies. I am no part of any Board or Committee and never have been.

Aand I love billiards and always have done from the day I first played at the Berkshire Club under the guidance of Joe Jordan and Jack Karnehm.

And I've followed the game all over the world and promoted and reported it at every opportunity... even to the extent of being the only Western journalist reporting at the 2006 Asian Games billiards.

But you think what you like. All the slaggers and knockers achieve is to turn us all away from a sport we once loved, because it's just not worth putting any effort in if all we hear is insults and complaints.

I would endorse what Janie says. She has always been a friend of billiards and the billiards community, and is generally regarded as the scourge of incompetent officials rather than a collaborator. Topman should select his targets more carefully. There are plenty to choose from.

In my personal view, the main problem with the EBOS tournament was that it was arranged behind the backs of the EBSA Members, without their support or agreement. Consequently, there was nobody in Romania to look after their interests. I believe there is still a future for a European Billiards Championship, but only if it is properly presented to, and supported by the EBSA Membership.

                          Hi Peter,

Like you, I have always had high regard for Janie's efforts but I do feel she should have been a little more thoughtful before using the word misinformation when attempting to defend EBSA.

I wasn't there but my scources are people I have known a great number of years.

Janie says she has never been involved on a board or committee and doesn't sit at the top table. My view on that is somewhat different.
