  • Q School may 2011

Can anybody shed any light on the Q School situation for me? I have tried to find out information regarding this, but to no avail. All i know is that it costs £1,000 with no prize money paid out. Things like venue, duration, format are all a mystery so far...
    Cheap and Cheerful! 😄

Q-School is effectively the replacement for PIOS as the main qualifying route for amateurs to get on the Main Tour.

It is scheduled to be played at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield in the last two weeks of May 2011, with four events over the two weeks, and a minimum of 12 qualifiers apparently, but not sure how they will get 12 from 4 events.

The EASB has added an innovative new event to its calendar, which is being marketed as 'Turn Pro for a Tenner'. This will be a three-stage event, with the first stage costing just £10 to enter. The eventual winners of stage 3 will have their £1000 entry fee to Q-School paid for them. The number of winners will depend on the amount of entry fees received: one£1000 Q-School place will be funded from every £2500 of entry fees. Those losing in the final rounds of each stage will get some prize money. More details will be published soon, along with the full tournament entry packs.

I agree with you, there is so little information so far,
I know we are just in July and there is
at least 9 months ahead, but still...
I'm not from Uk,or anywhere near,
and there's a lot of things for me to figure it out, before actually decide
to travel and pay the £1,000 that the tournamentt will cost,( not to mention
air tickets, and everything else; acomodation, food, etc) apart from that
exists multiple other issues for a non British citizen,
        for instance:do I need Visa?,or a work permit?
Because, I read on the entry form for the first PTc, that overseas players must own a Work Permit,(World snooker support the application)
but in the case the of the Q school,I have no idea what would be the criteria...
        and so on...
Also there is a number of other things regarding
        the tournament itself...
The thing is I haven't been able to find(at least on the official sites) any current info on this matters.
So if anyone knows or find some new info in the future, related to
this matters, pls share or if is possible
e-mailme at this Capattore@hotmail.com or http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1212091042excuse my grammar and typos and
        Thanks in advance.
        Long live snooker.

I'm pretty sure that there will be ranking points for each of the four competitions with the 12 highest ranking players (after all four tournaments have been completed) going through to the main tour.
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.

There are three tournaments. All those who reach the semi finals in any of the three will be offered a pro place for next season. The four who make it from the first tournament and accept will be withdrawn from the following two and the players who they were due to play will be given byes.

Sounds unlikely but I'm sure the option will be there. If that were to happen not sure who would take the vacant place, may be the person who was beaten in the QF, but can't say for sure.

I'm pretty sure that, barring a huge change in personal circumstances, everyone who has entered the Q School has professional aspirations, as there is no prize money per se.
