Fancy pitting yourselves against some of the best leagues in the UK!

The second UK League Snooker Championship will take place over the weekend of 4th/5th December 2010, West Midlands are the current holders.

The tournament will take place at Rileys Snooker Club, Kirkmanshulme Lane, Gorton, Belle Vue, Manchester, M18 7BA

The tournament will start at 2pm on Saturday 4th December to allow leagues from all over the country to arrive in time, and recommence at 10am on the Sunday morning.

Each league is invited to enter one team of five players (Depending on numbers, we may allow a second team), but unlimited reserves are permitted. Depending on numbers of entries we will have two divisions and play a league format, with a semi-final between the second position team in Division A v first position in Division B and vice versa, then a final between the two winning teams. The cost of entry is £75 per team. There will be cash prizes for the winners and runners up, along with a cash prize for the player with the greatest difference between wins and losses, and also highest break.

Professionals can enter the tournament, but they will be handicapped at 14 points a frame.

There will be no aggregate scores counted, for example if a team wins 3-2, the winning team will get an extra point in the league table.

Closing date for entry by the 27th November. Payment must also be made by this date

I would like to add that players should play in smart casual dress, no jeans or trainers.

PM me if you wish to enter.

Have the tables at Belle Vue improved over the last 12 months?

Of course, they all now have match cloths, steel block cushions, heaters and tv lighting! seriously they have improved and to be fair for a 22 table club they`re good. Also Rileys are sponsoring the event and they`re free.

The reason I ask is because this time last year nearly every table had dozens and dozens of little nicks in the cloth, like someone had deliberately used a razor to make 2-3mm slits. At least three of the tables also had very bad repairs made to the cloth, one of them adjacent to a black spot, which would make it unusable.

I'll be there next week, so I'll see for myself.

You appear to be the TD. Did you run it last year? How many teams entered?

                Uk interleague

Simon, I jointly TD it with Richard from uk league snooker. We had 16 leagues last year from all over the UK. It was a great event with a good standard high break was 139 with several other centuries made over the two days. Snooker scene also reported on the event.

Thanks Cossie, Can you also confirm how many frames played and prize amounts based on say 16 teams.

The format is five man team playing one frame each, no aggregate. Based on last year each team plays in a mini league of 8, so 7 matches plus semi and final. The prize money is calculated once the number of teams. 100% payout minus running expenses which are minimal.
