There are monthly pro-ams at Gateshead which normally include players like Gary Wilson, David Lilley, Michael Rhodes etc so it's a high standard of competition if you're interested.

Yeah about 9 or 10 years ago i used to play with Gary Wilson at Supa Snooker in Wallend (think its supasnooker anyway)
We both used to get coaching from a guy called Stan Chambers.
Even 10 years ago Gary Wilsons highest break was 147. He must've only been 15 or something.
So if hes playing in the comps at Gateshead then i dont stand much hope
Ive only just started playing again and havent played for about 7 years. Slowly but surely getting the feel for the tables again. Its amazing how quickly you lose it, went from having a highest break of 121 and now at the minute i can barely get a 40 break. Takes time though!

LOL, I've just started again after 6 years so I can definitely relate to that. The main thing I had to practice to get anywhere near the old times was straight blues off the spot. I find that routine in particular makes a massive difference for the following few days play.

Hardest thing about it is having people to play against as most of my playing mates dont play anymore so im just practicing on my todd at a club in Sunderland.
Same reason i joined this forum really to try and find out about any comps and if anyone needs a few frames
