I have heard a disturbing rumour this week and would be keen to find out if it's true or not.
Dave Brown currently tops this years rankings and quite rightly has been asked to represent England in Malta, from what I can gather this is a two man team event and his partner is looking likely to be John Hartley's father. I believe this is due to other players either not being asked, or turning down an offer to play as they don't want to fund the trip themselves.
IF this is true and not speculation then the EASB should be ashamed of themselves, what do the members pay their money for if the organisers made a mockery of the selection process.
IF this is untrue then please accept my apologies but in my experience with the EASB then it's highly likely this is the case and what a shame for Dave Brown, going all that way having to fork out hard earned money, never mind the loss in wages for the time off and he gets a partner who isn't good enough to compete.
SHOCKING, BUT NO REAL SURPRISE
