  • Worth entering into amateur tournaments?

Based on what I've seen in my local club I'm average, slightly above at times. My highest break is 56, then 46, 40, 37, and a number of 30-35 breaks. I would say my average form would get me two 20+ breaks a frame, although I am still capable of not even getting over 10 in a frame sometimes.

I want to play more seriously, and think challenging myself by playing other people (rather than one person all the time) would do me good.

On the other hand, I don't wanna be humiliated and end up with no confidence whatsoever.

Is it worth entering local leagues or tournaments?

I was always told " to beat you have to get beat" it will enspire you to become better every single players has gone through a kicking or two over there time so don't be ashamed to get beat just learn from it, that's if you even get beat might bring the best out of you

Good luck and most certainly enter everything!

you'll probably find a couple of 20 breaks a frame will see off 70% of players in internal leagues.

You will get better by playing better players.

          Go for it.

I agree with what's already been said. Playing better players will raise your own standard without a doubt.

If you can regularly make breaks of 20+, then you're likely to win quite a few frames.

            What age are you?

Thanks for the encouragement everybody. It's good to know my standard isn't too low on the spectrum of amateur players.

I'd ignore what you can do by playing the same player week in week out and see how you get on against others, if you can keep making 20+ breaks then you'l do well...
                One day I'll make a century, I've knocked in a 51!
