They give you a bad handicap to start (- 50 for me) but the first 4 entries are free including the table time, this is to allow the manager Paul time to access you and give decent handicap. I lost 2 nill giving 50 away in the first round but lost the second frame on the black. I was then allowed to buy myself back in again this was free. I lost 2 nil giving away 46 start again losing the second frame on the black.
The tables as far as I could see have all been re-clothed and the two tables I played on were very true. I do have one critisum of the club and that is the state of the balls in the main hall. They are really old all different colours with chips out of them. The white ball is really light and made control of the cue ball really hard, I did raised this with the manager and he said he was he would put me on a match table next time. It's seem strange that the club won't invest in match balls as the tables are very good. I asked one guy would it be ok to bring my own set but he said the manager won't allow it as it's unfair to some of the regulars who are used to these balls. From what I can see every one was complaining about the balls so this don't seem right to me. I'll bring my set next time and see if I'm allowed to use them.

All in all I would recommend this club to anyone looking for a game on a Sunday, very friendly staff and players.
    Nice one caz, good stuff....

I wouldnt think they will allow you to bring your own balls as all the tournys I have played in last 30yrs they never allow that and I agree why should somebody have better balls than another.

Not having a go in anyway peter honestly.
Have to disagree with you there, when giving a 50 start you need to be able to score heavy in order to make up the point's if the white is too hard to control you can't make breaks, your opponent on the other hand is just great full for any points that add to his advantage weather it is 1 red or a red and yellow.
As for playing with better balls your contradicting yourself as you have just said it's the same for both players so if your both playing with a proper set of balls how can it be a disadvantage to your opponent as you are both playing with the same balls?????
You can't have it both ways it is either an advantage or no advantage one way or the other?

Yes I was quite pleased I was cuing well and if I hadn't lost the white on 36 I would have won a frame giving away 50

yes I think it's strange especially as he can get his hands on the 1g sets in the same way that that you told me about. If he brought 1 set a month he would have all the tables done within the year

Neil if you can find the time I think you should come down one day and the four of us can have a round robin comp

Thanks Jim bud. It was a long day and lots of runners as well. Was a bit nervous in semi final playing Charon as he was cueing very
Well but after semi out of the way I felt relaxed as never in the final. By the way I've just realised I've never lost one frame on the day. Got a big buzz out of it if you know what I mean Jim and I suggest you get your arss down there one Sunday as well.

All those hours ive put in in past two month finally paid off.

On that note anyone out there who willing to come and play Upton Park Sunday competition you more then welcome as it would be nice to see the comp grow.

Greetings to a new runner Peter aka cazmac

Peter Its good to hear your positive feedback about the comp you've attended on Sunday and I could not agree more regards the poor state of the balls in the main hall as those been used for years and obviously need replacing. Fact! But it didn't stop me making 82 break few weeks back. All in all when you get use to it , it ain't that bad but it's not the case. As far as I'm aware this issue currently being addressed by the management of the club and hopefully will be resolved soon.
