Before you can configure the format for the main event you need a few things.

    1. Number of days available
    2. Opening hours of venue
    3. Number of tables you have
    4. Number of players

After that you can then figure out the rest

Lets say you have a 5 day event from 10am till 11pm with 32 players and 2 tables.
    • R1 - Day 1 & 2 - 16 matches - Best of 3 frames, 1 all day session with a 30 minute break after first 8 matches have finished, play it one off one on if matches over run
    • R2 - Day 3 - 8 matches - Best of 5 frames, one all day session same as R1 & R2
    • Quarters - Day 4 - 4 matches - Best of 5 frames, over 2 sessions
    • Semis - 1 table setup Day 5 - 11am - Best of 7 frames 11am and 3pm starts for each match
    • Final - 1 table setup - Day 5 - Best of 9 frames - 7pm start

If you want to give me a few more details I can put you a format down on a spread sheet, I have about 40 formats for anything from 32 to 128 players over 3 to 7 days and with number of tables from 2 to 8.

halo Jorock Apa Khabar? well most important thing is doing everything in 16s but If you have a number that isnt in the sixteen times table then u will need also to set up a pre qualifying tournament

you don't necessarily need pre-qualification. you can have ko draw with byes (or seeding) or play round robin groups to get x no. in ko draw.

There are loads of different formulas, as Kev says, that can be used, dependent on factors like no. of entries, no. of tables, amount of time, length of matches etc

Also depends what level of players you're aiming your events at?
Leading amateurs, longer length ko matches.
Young juniors, shorter matches but more matches, round robin to give everyone more match play and experience.

You can even look at formats like double elimination to give everyone at least 2 matches if you're running ko formats.

wouldn't mind that spread sheet Kev. I'm doing slide rule maths on an event at the moment!

I will let you have access to the web script I have written when it is finished!

It will be part of the new site design of The Snooker Archive, you basically select your specifics from a bunch of drop down lists and the script spits out a bunch of PDF's for format (Brackets), score cards for individual matches & the schedule sheet.

Thanks to All for the reply.
Well I think each year there will be 3 tournaments played: March>June>November
Being November is the Last tournament of the year it will be more important.
2 centers is taking part in this Ranking tour: each can provide 8 tables at a time.
              Players is from 32-99
              yearly affair
I hope it can be finish in 1.5 months for each tournament.

              Thanks

1.5 months for each tournament???? I appreciate you're keen to host a competition or two, but have you ever seen snooker before??? Amateur or professional, there's nobody hanging around for a month and a half jorock, unless you're talking about local tournaments for local players (WE DIDN'T BURN HIM)
