Videos from the 2012 Canadian Snooker Championships

Hey everyone,

Due to an unfortunate series of events culminating in a corrupted hard drive, I don't have nearly the comprehensive list of videos from the 2012 Canadians that I had hoped to have available. But anyway, here's a selection of videos from our national tournament in Canada, held at Shooters Snooker & Sports Club in Toronto, Ontario:
[*]Alex Pagulayan vs. Robin Peterson - Last Frame - there isn't much footage of Alex Pagulayan playing snooker, but here's a little bit that we were able to salvage.[*]Alan Whitfield - 105 Break [*]Brian Butler - 101 Break[*]Quarterfinal - Vito Puopolo vs. Tom Finstad[*]Semi-final - Tom Finstad vs. Floyd Ziegler - one of the best matches of the tournament, no doubt! (Floyd Ziegler received the Americas nomination on the pro tour this season and is drawn to play Fergal O'Brien at PTC1)

Sitting on the aforementioned corrupted hard drive is quite a lot of other footage including the final, quite a bit more of Alex Pagulayan and at least a couple of matches featuring Kirk Stevens--but data recovery is an extremely expensive process according to the quotes I received so there's no guarantee any of it will see the light of day.

You'll notice that both Finstad and Ziegler use 1/2 jointed cues(which is quite common over here across the pond).

Hey, what software did you use for the score keeping on the video? Looks professional!

I think Pagulayan is really good at snooker, just plays a bit too slow for my taste. Certainly the best non British pool player playing snooker. I just find it strange that he won the Canadian title so easily with almost no opposition.
How would he fare agaist Robidoux or Thorburn today?

In watching Pagulayan I find it very peculiar that there are no ref's at the national championships! Seems very odd for a major tournament. Even weirder is that his opponent isn't picking the balls out for him either. Is this usual in Canada? No ref's, and you pick your own balls out?

I built it myself in Excel using a combination of fancy WordArt and Visual Basic programming skillz.

I wouldn't say that it's always been the case, but this year the group stage matches were staffed by one referee for all four active tables. It wasn't until the knockout rounds that matches were officiated individually--I think it may have been cost-prohibitive to have refs for all group stage matches this year, not sure.

What happened with the audio, seems incredibly compressed and the commentary is very hard to make out.

Yeah I apologize, we had a lot of audio problems that were difficult to diagnose and repair on the fly. Some of these things will be better ironed out next year, but this is really the first time that any video at all has been available from this event throughout its history so there's a bit of a learning curve.

Could've, should've, would've, but my opponent for the last round didn't show up and I had a walk-over, so didn't play in last round-robin match (he's been barred for a year I think)

Besides which I wasn't playing all that well anyway.
