  • How would you

    Just a thought.
How would you go from club snooker to getting noticed to going pro?
I'm not saying I'm aiming for pro but I'd love to know how to find competitions and stuff around me and how to get a lot more involved??

    Thanks

Become a member of the English Association of Snooker & Billiards (EASB) and sign up for competitions that suit your age and playing ability. Their website is englishsnooker.com.

If you live in the south, you may want to consider Cuestars. Their website is cuestars.uk.com.

i signed up last year paid membership and didn't enter any competitions, i wasn't ready and probably still aren't, i just didn't want to embarass myself.
at my age there aren't many i could go for i am 48 now, plus i would need to travel to most of the competition venues which are all in other cities from where i live in Sheffield.

i just couldn't find the courage plus the time to do it even if i did decide to enter. i think that i will give it a miss renewing my membership this year until i feel i am up to it playing wise

Are there any players of a less than excellent standard that enter these types of competitions?

I mean non century break players?

          Just curious?

            pottr:

When I was over there they used to have some regional qualifications and then the last 16 for North & South traveled to a special venue to play down. I made the last 16 for the South a couple of times and there were certainly a lot of players in the preliminary rounds who were non-century makers and I think they were there for the experience and also to see what standard they had to get to. I can't remember how many rounds there were, but I believe I played quite a few.

Cheers Terry, that's how it used to be when I played in U16/U19 comps when I used to play a lot.

I get the impression now that you can literally just sign up and play in the events whatever standard you are. Allbeit at a much earlier stage than the last 32.
