Does snooker have an amateur league structure like in pool?

Can you qualify for regional/national events through your local league or does it just stop at your local league and occasionally you get some nice (or not so nice) trophies?

It stops at local league level. Never looked into it, but I'm guessing you have to put yourself forward for competitions, and enter qualifying etc. Years ago when I played pool to a pretty good standard, the club/pub I played for received entry forms for pro/am touraments. You had to enter these and get through pre-qualifying etc. Get yourself noticed more.

I'm guessing snooker has the same structure, but I'm not at a level where I'd get involved in that at the moment. I know of quite a few chaps in the league I play in who have entered, and been invited to, pro/am tournaments.
    Cheers

Cool. Did you ever play in the Leamington & District League? I've been playing in it since 2000
