Sounds really good and its nice to see a group of people trying to give the game in this country a boost !!
I hope it lasts and isn't a short term thing as its what the game needs, its also a shame that World snooker have more or less wiped their hands of the game in the uk or at least are doing very little to encourage and help the game to grow in this way.
Its going to be snooker players at this level who will get the game growing again at home.
Ive seen sadly to many ideas fall apart due to younger players expecting to much and not wanting to commit to teams and events even after putting their names down to similar projects so hopefully this will be different and already seems to be growing in the right direction.

County snooker teams will re-energize the game!!!

forgive me gents as this is a 6 month old thread, but you are correct in saying county snooker is essential as it connects town winners with other county winners and national winners, I would be absolutely in favour of running a national county championship, I know many counties have no administrative snooker secretary of sorts and so selection would be down to players, but with good exposure and word of mouth, this championship could be a fixed event in the calendar again.

Hi simon dent. This may be a 6 month old thread, but things are very much alive! We have our return leg against Derby on the 26th of this month! Our venue is Plaza Snooker and Pool club, Fenton, Stoke-On-Trent. ST4 3NA. We are still only playing these games as friendy matches just to get all county's aquainted with eachother. Our County representatives mainly consisting of players will soon be holding a meeting. To thrash out some ideas and plan the structure of its future. Any and all interest is welcomed. So please feel free to pm or email any ideas and the such.

Kent and Sussex have good county admin, perhaps we could pm details with eachother and get the right people talking. essentially, we could gave 38 county teams, it needs someone to contact relevant players in each to try and creat teams. Essex and Herts also had good admin.

Here in East Anglia both Norfolk and Suffolk have strong County Associations.
We (the Norfolk BSA) would be very, very keen to support and enter a National County Team Snooker Championship, and indeed we construct annual County Snooker and Billiards rankings from which we select our County teams.
I would have thought that the EASB would run this event on next years calendar if there is demand.
I don't want to speak for Suffolk and Cambs but i would expect that they would be keen to support this event also.

Hi Guys, I live in Jersey and I'm trying to to do exactly the same here.

I am in the process of setting up a tournament that I hope to be held annually here in Jersey for county teams.

The date's I have are Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th may. I have a local hotel with a confirmed rate of £33 per person for B&B.

Hopefully the event will take place here www.jmisnooker.com and we will be taking entrants from teams of 5.

Subject to 12 teams entering at £50 per man there should be a prize fund of around £3000.00 that will obviously increase if we receive more entrants. I have spoken to players in Guernsey and they have confirmed they are interested in sending at least two teams, Jersey has two as well so we are looking for teams from wider afield to compete. I know the Guernsey Captain Adrian Lihou has close contacts with Sheffield and is in the process of contacting them to see if the team they send to Guernsey for the challenge matches they have would like to play. Also Paul Mcphillips in Scotland has been contacted and we are awaiting weather they can send a team too.

Jersey and Guernsey are a friendly bunch of lads and we would love to host everyone here for a few days, we are easily accessible by plane or boat, (boat is around £90 return for foot passengers) so you could easily make a little break of it by staying a couple of extra days!!

The competition will shortly be going up on our website www.snookerjersey.com but in the meantime you can register an interest here or email me on snookerloopy75@hotmail.co.uk

We will play a Round Robin format so everyone gets plenty of games, if there is a lot of interest we may split it into two groups but will see.

              Kind regards

              Aaron

Hi TSF! Just spoken to thecuecoach with regards to future involvement. I have to say that this is spreading at an alarming rate now! I think that it would be a good idea for each counties representatives to utilize this forum, by adding a county discussion thread. This should speed up progress. Just to recap the counties already active are; Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Warwickshire. Imminent involvement should include Cheshire and Lincolnshire.

Hi guys, just read all these posts. Both this thread & the one National County Championship (proposed) thread, are hopefully doing exactly the same, to kick start the game at County league level. It seems by reading both threads that snooker is VERY MUCH ALIVE & Counties are having friendlies across the majority of England. Now's the chance & opportunity for all to be involved in the N(E)CC. The interest IS there, so why don't we all reply with our NOTICE OF INTEREST when the EASB ask Counties to pre-register very shortly on their website.

The EASB are now asking for Counties to Pre-Register their interest on www.easb.co.uk for the proposed National (English) County Championship. You can also see what Counties have entered & how many teams they're entering (max 2 teams).
