  • IBSF World Amateur Championships

Well...I've been asked to represent Canada at the World Championships in Latvia Nov 27 to Dec 8 and have happily accepted. I just hope I can play a little better this year.

With my budget in mind I will be posting another 'cue sale' string in the hopes I can sell off some of these really nice cues I've picked up lately. (All cues are at my specs of about 18.3oz, 58", 9.4mm, 28.5mm and most have 2 extensions).

I have a brand new 1pc ash TW, 1pc maple James Butters, an older ash H&O 3/4-butt (which is 56") but it's definitely an original, one 1pc ash Andy Travis brand new, a really good Green Baize 3/4-butt maple which was modified by MW with his joint and refinished by him along with several others which I hope I can sell and build up my snooker account so I can enjoy the trip to Latvia.

Great news Terry, I was checking out your cues last night. Will they stream the worlds so we can check it out.

              Les:

They didn't last year but the year before in India they had all 16 tables streamed and a list of who is playing on each table and when. As this is a changed venue thing there likely won't be any streaming however John G. does keep snookerline up to date and so does the IBSF and also I believe I read somewhere the IBSF is trying to get streaming set up.

If you're thinking of a cue you had better move fast as there has been a LOT of interest in the TW and the H&O and some interest in a few of the others.

I figured that. A lot of nice cues but not for a hack like me. I have lost all confidence in my game.

Then it's time to get back to basics with your coach and rebuild your technique. I know you've been watching videos and reading and then trying out different things and that will lead to confusion as you are changing a lot in your technique and you need to go right back to basics and build it over again.

(That's what I'm going to do myself in preparation for the worlds.)

As a repeat customer I'll offer you a discount if that will help

Buy a cue and help a poor old age pensioner afford the trip to Latvia

Surely the Canadian snooker association that asked you to represent your country will support your visit in some way?

But regardless, what an honour and hope it goes well for you

                            DeanH:

That would be nice however they do not do anything at all to support the players...we even have to pay $75(US) over there out of our own pockets before we can play.

They only provide expenses for the winner of the Open Mens Canadian Championships although the runner-up can go to the worlds plus Canada has 3 Masters spots of which only 2 are filled at the moment but all from our own pockets.

I get very jealous of other players I see at the worlds who get everything covered by their associations. At least our association covers the important expenses and sends the President to the world champs all expenses paid so he can attend that important AGM, (and that's whether we have any players entered or not.)

And so they should help out with the cost eh Dean. Why should Terry have to sell his collection to represent his country! Seems unfair!!
Terry, could you not get sponsored to help with the costs? But I'm pretty sure you've been down that route before.
