  • 5 Man team event in Jersey

    Good evening everybody,

I'm trying to organise a 5 man team international county competition for 23rd 24th 25th may on behalf of the Jersey Billiards and Snooker Association this year at The Jersey Mechanics Institute in Jersey, all counties are welcome. It will be around £50 per man to enter with a minimum prize fund of £3000.00, more if i get more teams. Ill post the details when i get rough ideas of entrants.

I have organised a nearby hotel with a confirmed rate of £33.00 per person per night.

Guernsey have expressed their interest in sending two teams as well as one from France and i also have at least three local teams from Jersey.

We are looking for County standard teams to compete in this event, if you are interested please express your interest here.

The Jersey and Guernsey guys are a really friendly bunch and we would love to host as many teams as possible from the UK, we are easily accessible by plane or boat (around £90 return on the boat)

The tournament will be played on a round robin basis so everyone has plenty of games to play, possibly split into two groups with the top two teams from each group playing off if there are more than twelve teams.

I look forward to hearing from interested teams.

    Many thanks

    Aaron Canavan

    Jersey Billiards and Snooker Association

      Hello Glen,

We are definately on for 23rd 24th 25th May mate although the Venue has changed to First Tower Institute. (They have a facebook page if anyone want's to take a look) We have 3 teams here I would assume Guernsey have 2 as well. Guy Heys is organising a team from Southampton and a French team should also be attending. We haven't had any interest from further afield which is a shame as it will be a great weekend of snooker.

We are reducing the entrance fee to £25 per man to help people with costs but that will inevitably have an impact on the level of prize money on offer but we are at the moment working hard to secure a sponsor.

I will try and get things moving Monday mate because to be honest I heard about it a few weeks back but no one has taken the initiative to get things moving.

If it is 5 man teams I would think we would just have the 1 team. If it was 4 I would have thought we could send 2.

Ok mate, see how many people are interested in coming and i'll ask everyone if they would prefer 4 or 5 man teams. If you can let me know how many teams you can get so i can finalise the format and put out flyers.

Just a quick update to everybody who has expressed an interest, we have confirmed teams from Jersey, Guernsey, Southampton and France. We also have interest from other areas of the Uk but no confirmed enteries from them as yet.

It will consist of 4 man teams and possibly a singles event if we have enough interest.

The mechanics snooker club http://www.jmisnooker.com/ are having their tables re covered especially for the event.

It will be a great weekend of snooker and hopefully will become an annual event attended by counties from all over the UK.

If you are interested in entering a team please drop me a line!!
