SHOCKING!
That was Ben Harrison’s verdict on his own performance at the South West qualifier for the English Amateur Championship.
Despite booking a spot in the last-16 south at the South West Snooker Academy, Gloucester, on April 26-27, last season’s beaten finalist left the five-table Martock Snooker Centre in a sour mood.
“Honestly, I played shocking!” insisted the 22-year-old from Hawkeridge, near Westbury in Wiltshire.
“I couldn’t have played any worse. I have been working very hard and it was so frustrating to play that badly. I was just relieved to get through in the end.”
And he added: “I 100 percent believe I can win the whole competition this year.”
Harrison defeated three Bristol cuemen: Brandon Winstone 4-0, Kurtis Weaver 4-3 and Stephen Winstone 4-0.
Meanwhile, Hassan Vaizie navigated his way through the flood water to book a trip to his home club.
The Gloucester potter defeated Stephen Weaver (Bristol) 4-0 and James Height (Somerset) 4-3.
“Once we made it there, avoiding the floods, it was a nice cosy venue,” said Vaizie.
“The tables played well and I was pleased to qualify after a final frame decider.”
The southern and northern winners will meet during the EASB Finals Weekend at the Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds, on June 7-8.
