OLIVER Brown set off like a train en route to claiming a first tournament win on the English Ranking Series.
The Dronfield ace restricted Upinder Bakshi (London) to just five points in four frames – and that included a foul – in his opening match in the seventh leg of the national tour at the Cueball Derby.
Brown, who had never before been past the last-16 in his three previous outings, recorded breaks of 54, 53 and 98 in the 4-0 victory.
A run of 70 helped him see off Luke Garland (Dudley) 4-2. Wins over James Brown (Oldbury), 4-0, Jake Nicholson (Flamborough), 4-1, and Masters Tour high-flyer Anthony Harris (Sutton Coldfield), 5-3 in the final that included a 71, earned Brown £300.
Earlier, Alan Evitts (Sheffield) pocketed the high-break of £40 for a 117 clearance in his 4-1 third-round defeat by Mitchell Mann.
Rankings leader Mann (Castle Vale) was knocked out 4-2 in the next round by Nicholson after missing the final black on 68 to force a decider.
The eighth and final leg is at the South West Snooker Academy, Gloucester, on May 3-4.
