Also, he is not on the WPBSA main tour, so maybe that is the criteria?
    That is correct

      Terry,
what's the definition of an amateur in Canada ? Seeing as you make a living from the game you could be perceived as a pro in some quarters.
Holy crap vmax, gimme a break. I was in a high pressure match on slow tables and the last think I was thinking about was my technique.

The definition of an amateur in Canada is exactly the same as it is everywhere else in the world, an amateur is a player not listed on the WPBSA site as a pro on the tour. For instance, even though Alex Pagulayan has played in 2 qualifiers since he is not on the list he is calssed as an amateur in snooker (although a pro in pool).

        j6 and vmax:

Let's video YOU in your national championships where you have a 2hr layoff between frame 5 and 6 and then come back to a slow table with weak lighting and lots of noise and see how you play a pressure frame where if you win you become #1 out of your round-robin group.

The guy I was playing was Demos and he came 2nd in our group and has drawn Floyd Zeigler in the last 16. We both knew winning that match was VERY important as far as the last 16 draw was concerned.

So lay off me please until such time as you are under conditions like that. I'm not a pro and my technique suffers under pressure just like everyone else.

          Terry.

Sorry for asking what might be a dumb question as I don't know the format that the tournament is under but when are you playing again and will it be streamed?

for me tel its just a normal bit of banta between players besides there weren't that much pressure because you had qualified regardless who you had to play next. but you must admit though, you did play awful?, apart from that yellow you rammed home
why were you taken off after five frames?

You tell him Terry, that match was huge. Just think you could have been playing Floyd this morning. Now as far as how our system works guys they make it up as they go along. Floyd put his name into play in the Masters next week and the only criteria is you cannot be a pro and you have to be 55. He meets both but they say he is to good and no one else will play....LOL I have another good one. The president of our province put my name in for the General Meeting to be voted by all members but instead they had a closed door meeting and voted themselves back in. Very clicky organization.

Lighten up Terry, just a bit of banter as j6 says, note the smiley face and take it as that. I always play on slow tables with lots of noise and p1ss poor lighting but with tight pockets, but at least my opponent and I spot each others colours. That to me is very unsporting and disrepectful.

I find a 62 inch, 20 oz cue helps a lot, probably why I can't handle fast tables.

Noticed that Terry has a long bridge with his cue arm forward of vertical at address. Longer cue for taller players is my mantra, think Terry needs one about 60 inches to stop that shoulder dropping his elbow before the stroke.
Easy to say that he doesn't, but when the pressure is on technique goes awol when that cue subconsciously inches further forward for better sighting.

Yes, I understand what you're saying however I would prefer to play Floyd Zeigler in the finals and not in the last 16 as he is a much better player than I am. He should be on the pro tour but he didn't take up his ticket last season. There's another player there who is almost as good as Floyd (some say better) and that is Alan Whitfield and if I make the semis I will be playing him.

I don't mind being picked apart by other players but at least try and understand I am just a coach and not an ex-pro player and by no means is my technique perfect. What I would like both vmax and j6uk to do is look in the mirror first and video themselves in a pressure match and see how they look in that kind of situation.

vmax and j6uk you are always telling other players to post up videos of themselves (especially j6uk) but I have never seen a video of either one of you so I can't return the favour and pick your technique apart. Try and be fair and quit slating my confidence when I'm in the middle of our biggest tournament please.

don't worry, when I start playing again I will put up some videos
terry a man with your background that match was 'a bit of fluff on your jacket' in terms of pressure, so interesting you bring it up again. but by your own standards you played dreadful ay? we could see by your body language, on almost every shot your head would drop, and you'd shuffle away from the table, you seemed to be really out of sorts with everything you were doing.
the good new is is that you've got us here to pick you up, dust you down and make sure you get your ship pointing in the right direction
keep your cannons clean and good luck today
