Here in Montreal Snooker Rooms are bad in the Summer Months but picks up in Sept

Hope it works out for them
No Problem. As I mention I am going over there tomorrow since it is 5-10 minutes from my house. If I see anything
better then the images posted on there site I will let you know. It looks like from the pictures they have set up a lot
of Pool tables, I will see tomorrow about the rest of the room and Snooker tables, since not all the pictures on there
    site show the current condition.

Hi Leonard: I just got back from the site of the new club. They are busy with dry wall guys still doing some of the smaller room
walls. All the Pool tables seem to be installed with the lights above each table not yet installed but on top of each table.

There were 3 trucks there from an HVAC company so they are busy doing the Heating and air systems, so I was wrong about
it going slowly, it seems to be going Fast.

The Snooker tables: I am not sure if they are just starting with them or about to finish. I saw one of the Snooker tables with the
frame up but no slate on it yet.

I thought they would wait to do all the dry wall before installing the tables, even though the tables are covered dry wall dust can
      go everywhere.

I am not sure who is installing the tables. I do know that there are only a few people that do it, and they seem to be very
competitive on who gets the business. As was mentioned by others there seems to be differences of opinion on how to improve
the game in Canada with not allowing new people in organizations to get involved which is unfortunate. John white is
a VP in the CBSA, so he probably has his own Friends /Installers working on the table part of the project. I know the guy that
was the installer of my table tries to uncut on price the other people, but he is not a Friend of John's and he works alone. So
that probably would not be a fit for John. I think the Installer is probably another member of the CBSA executive, but I am
      uncertain.

They the new owners seem to think they will get the Canadians next year for both Snooker and Pool. Which makes me wonder
why he thinks it should always go to a club that he is the owner of. Granted if no one else bids on it then he gets it. Granted I
do not know how that process works or whether it is fair or not, since it has been at Shooters for at least the last 5-6 years,
the guys in Montreal might be saying. Hey how about Montreal for a change? A Fair Question!!

Centennial College which I had mentioned is near the site of this club, is actually right cross the street, so hopefully for the
owners the kids will cross the Street when it opens!

I checked into opening a new Club Hamilton way but the risk is huge. My idea was to contact the schools and setup some kind of program. Then leagues during the week nights and turn it into a training academy on the weekend for the kids. I really think it could work especially if there is a way of including the schools. The summer months kill you and that is the biggest catch.

A few years back a guy came over from England who was trying the same thing. But not with a Club because he basically had zero
money. He thought he could just do it in some of the clubs, say the Annex and Shooters. I won't mention his name because he was
a bit of a Bridge burner. Another guy from England also came over around the same time, a nice guy Named Matt Bayley did some
coaching and played in some tournaments, but he was unsuccessful in teaching or finding any younger people to teach. I am not
sure if Matt is coming back he can stay in Canada because he has citizenship. The other guy does not have citizenship and had to go back.

Kids are doing a lot of other things nowadays, and as you mention in the summer it is a problem because outside activites take over
as maybe they should. In Canada Soccer, Sorry Football, is very popular with kids and during the winter months Hockey is still big
even though it is expensive for equipment, coaching and ice time.

And again back to the lack of Clubs and Tables in Canada. This new club is a Huge investment and I would think very Risky

                sharkster,
Were you in London for part of the tourney? If so, you should have let me know. We could have met and I might even have bought you a beer. Next time give me a shout if you'd like.
