  • Paul Norris claims Masters win

TWO ‘in-offs’ in two consecutive frames helped a West Sussex cueman clinch the second leg of the English Masters Snooker Tour South at Cue:sports in Marchwood.

Paul Norris pocketed £75 after accounting for Anthony Harris (Sutton Coldfield), whom he had beaten in the final of the last Masters event he’d entered last year.

Despite losing 3-0 to new boy Sean Halligan (Kent), Norris progressed from a “tough” round-robin group that saw event-one winner Nigel Howe (Basildon) eliminated before the knockout.

Next up was a semi-final clash with Simon Dent (Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex), who fought back from 1-0 down only to go ‘in-off’ the pink in a fifth-frame decider.

Norris, who hails from Crawley and saw off Harris 3-2 in their previous meeting in March 2013, said: “This final was a little easier as I came through 3-0, but once again helped by a slice of poor fortune when Anthony potted frame-ball black in the first and went ‘in-off’.”

The third leg of four is at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon, on Saturday, November 15.
