Would there be enough good amateurs close by to make up 32? I don't think so.

The entry fee is not realistic if the organizer wants to attract a large number of players. I think the 50GBP entry at the SWSA was a little more on target to attract a larger number of amateur players. No matter what the handicaps are the best players (the pros) are always going to win these handicapped tourneys unless they have to give up 40 points or more.
Does the organiser get to keep the remaining £1,600????

You haven't taken into account that there is not only 4 payouts, it losing semi finalists and losing 1/4 finalists also get a cut

What he says...the payout would be this:

          2,560/1,280/640/640/320/320/320/320 = ??? I think that comes to 6,400 does it not?

I will tattoo "F**K ME IM WRONG" on my forehead if they get 32 entries at £200.
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.

I thought that was in Scotland? I think you should enter this tournament Andrew, you know, to show the flag and all that. But you hafta wear a waistcoat with blue tartan on the back and a Highland Springs logo along with your own logo on the front

I think some of you are focusing too much on the £200 entry to the Main draw , rather than looking at the Satellite Comps .

The thinking behind it is , that your average club player ( or even someone of my level !!!! ) can play 3 matches against roughly the same standard players as yourselves and then get entered in the Main Comp . Where you can then play a Pro or a top quality amateur .

Don't think you can compare this Comp with a PTC , as these are all played in Europe and the expenses alone would be quite costly plus you would have a £100 entry fee .

Someone of your standard Paul should do very well in the Satellite Tournaments .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

OK, now that's making a little more sense. Snooker Canada here is running exactly the same thing for the $20,000 Richler Cup. The main tournament costs $300 to enter (or at least it was last year) but Patrick holds a whole bunch of qualifiers of 16 each where the entry is just $50 and if you make the finals you are qualified for the main event without paying the $300 (which would be roughly around 175GBP)
