How about a miscue? would that be called a miss? How can you prove he wasn't trying to hit a ball but miscued, or he miscued on purpose?

Yeah if you're playing the miss rule properly then a miss-cue definitely counts as a miss, obviously. But if you were looking to introduce a watered-down version of the ruling for amateur leagues whereby any attempt considered genuine enough would not be a miss - I guess you'd need to clarify the miscue situation. Personally I think miscuing should count as a miss. It shouldn't be hard to not miscue - but fairly easy to fake it (e.g. waaaaay too much top!).

Not having the miss rule is worse than having it to be honest because the cheating is worse the other way i run two leagues one with and one without and i have to say good players want it poor players dont its as simple as that the lower standard never want it but the better players do and is needed to be honest. We get few problems and advise players/teams to behave like adults and be as fair as possible we do not get involved with disputes about it they deal with it on the night and it is the refs decision its final even if you disagree. Even qualified refs in football and snooker make geniune mistakes or judgement calls some dont agree with but thats the beauty of it really. THE MISS IS A RULE OF SNOOKER AND SHOULD BE DONE IN ALL LEVELS OF SNOOKER it is like playing football with no offside rule lol
