ENGLISH Amateur Champion Ben Harrison has crashed out of this year’s competition at the first hurdle.
Harrison chalked up a 121 break in a 4-3 defeat by Mark Turner in the first round of the south west qualifier at the Belgrave Snooker Club, Plymouth.
James Height (Shepton Mallet, Somerset), Alan Tunney (Torbay) and Eden Sharav (Gloucester) booked places in the last-16 south, which will be played at The Crucible Sports & Social Club, Newbury, on the weekend of April 11-12.
Height dropped just two frames in his three best-of-seven-frame matches. Tunney received a bye and a walkover so only played one match. And Sharav recorded the day’s highest break of 125.
