I love to see a tournament where 100% of the prize money is dished out along with something by the club. In our ranking tournaments here they hold back 70%! which is why Les and I started another organization which does pay out 100%.
My own belief is supporting snooker should not entirely rest on the shoulders of the players themselves but that the clubs should also contribute because after all they are making a profit (normally at least).
everyone can take part.
no costs for hosting a tournament.
entryfee is payed out as prizemoney.
only a small part goes into a jackpot for a big final (last year more than 8.000 Euro)
Hi everyone! I would just like to remind you that there will be the start of an open series of pro-ams in Stoke-On-Trent, starting this coming Sunday(8th November).
These will be straight knockouts (non handicapped). With the consolation of a plate for I believe the 1st/2nd round losers, dependent on entries! The venue is:
Plaza Snooker and Pool Club
147 King Street
Fenton
ST4 3NA
The club is fairly easy to locate. With parking spaces widely available in the surrounding area.
Entry fee is just £10. With all money paid out. Pros give 14 start. More info is available if you contact the following: michael@plazasnookerandpoolclub.co.uk
Alternatively you can call the club direct on: 01782596087 12pm onwards!
Hope to see you there! :038:

Today saw the start of the Plaza Pro-am open series get underway. There were 19 in attendance which was good enough for the 1st event.
I had the privilege to meet a fellow TSF'er Tedisbill. We met in the prelim round, where I was fortunate enough to win. It was nice to see someone from here, make the journey up.
The club is undergoing a facelift which inevitably throws up some issues needing to be addressed. Once these are completed and the tables renovated, it will be a very successful tournament and club!
My game deteriorated as the day unfolded. No wonder really as I was drinking the night before! I'm just glad that I attended to help get this thing off the ground.
It goes without saying that we would like to see a few more forum members attend this, or even the pro-ams at Cueball in Derby.
There are also tournaments in Nottingham and Leicester.

If you join the NBSA for £15 a year that gives you entry to all their tournaments and leagues. A bargain! They have a tournament a week today I believe.
Plaza Snooker and Pool club ran open series event number 2 yesterday. Not a great turnout considering there was a clash with easb masters tour and Breakers club in Leicester. There simply aren't enough Sundays! Nevertheless this was an interesting day to say the least.
Stoke's own Pete Antrobus went in off to the middle from the final black for a Maximum!!!
He then went on to beat Coventry's Mark White in the final.
The club is still undergoing it's facelift. So once this is complete, and the tables brought upto speed it will be a very enjoyable day. The standard is as good as you would expect it to be. So if you are interested in entering I strongly advise you to do so.

that would be great to see you there. I imagine it will be better attended next month as there are no date clashes. Tables will be in better shape too, owing to the plastering and other jobs which have had an effect on them. I will post the flyer soon...
