Well, according to Leo you should be referred to as a 'poor player' and according to me as a 'less skilled player'. Every player is different and you have a mental thing (exactly like mine but mine is not as bad as yours) so I would say the definition you are looking for is this -

Les Edwards is a less-skilled poor player who lives with a mental handicap when he plays in a snooker tournament which causes him to seize up so he can't punch through the cueball and also he suffers from an absolute lack of understanding the physics of the table to the point where he will pass on frame-winning shots in order to play safe.

It might not have been pretty but you still won and by the way it was over SEVEN hours for 2 x best-of-5. you started at 11am and finished after 6pm for sure.

LMAO, you want me to upload my matches. First off I would not want anyone to see such a poor presentation of the game we call Snooker plus there is no cam on this earth that would have that kind of battery life..... Video, now there's an idea. Maybe if I knew you guys where watching I might actually punch some in.

Well, we don't video these qualifying tournaments and as Les says it would take a camera that's plugged in to power plus it would be a big sleeping pill.

I could record 90 minutes with my camera here but it would be an exercise in futility. However, a new record for the length of a frame was just set in Germany at 100 minutes by 2 pros no less and Les came nowhere near that although in one frame against his first opponent when they got down to the blue it took them around 15 minutes to end the frame. Now that was exciting!

I actually text Cliff and told him I might give him a run for grinding out lengthy matches....lol. Really it's sad when I look back over three years now and I have not improved an ounce when it comes to tournament play but when playing my son at home I started off giving him 20 three years ago and now we start at 50. I know there are many players that can't take there practice game to the table much the same as golf. But in golf I hit the first tee and I am in tournament mode beaming with confidence. I need to bring that attitude to the table.

To Les or Terry. How did the lady player get on? Also what was the average age of the 12 that entered? Be nice if your tournaments could encourage youngsters and more ladies to participate. Try and build the game rather than just aiming a few players for the Canadian nationals.

I actually played Anita in my first round and won 3-1. You tend to play wide open against her but then she sneaks up and runs some balls and then all of a sudden you find yourself down. She ran to 16 breaks in the first game against me and with my high break being 12 I couldn't catch her.....LOL That was the idea behind our new format was to try and promote the game by putting the Reds against Reds giving them more even matches to get more players out and it backfired on us. We had less. I have no idea why. Age wise I would say 25 to 70

Bet Anita had you sweating then Les lol. To take a frame off you and get 16 break she must be similar standard to you and the other red players. Just an idea to bring youngsters in why don't you do away with the dress code? Nothing wrong with casual cloths just for a club tournament, you might get a few more entries.

I would say our dress code is not affecting the turn out. Dress shoes, dress pants and a golf shirt. I find that pretty casual.

Just an idea to maybe boost your entry. Plenty of other people especially youngsters wouldn't class that as casual. It's casual for a pro tournament where they get to wear a polo shirt now and then but for a snooker club I'd want to be playing in whatever I liked. Unless I'd gotten to a league area final etc where they specify dress code.

I don't think recording some specially chosen matches would be a bad thing, it could also help promote the game a bit. When you have Floyd Zieglar, Phil Snache and Jason Williams playing you can set up to capture their matches, or anyone else you expect will play at a good standard. They record a lot of matches in Montreal and I'll sit down and watch Gilles Boismenu, Andre Roy, Rodney Cueilleurier etc.

I think focusing too much on high breaks is self defeating concept, kind of like putting the cart before the horse. You get high breaks from practicing and utilizing good habits (strong mechanics, shot selection, position). I would worry more about winning, and doing whatever you need to do to achieve that and it sounds like that's what you did this weekend.

I've beaten good players without making a 30 break, just using effective tactical play. I've also lost to an excellent player who was struggling even though I was in top form. That was frustrating.
