I know there are many players that can't take there practice game to the table much the same as golf. But in golf I hit the first tee and I am in tournament mode beaming with confidence. I need to bring that attitude to the table.

It's just a state of mind Les, you want it that bad you can't relax, next tournament treat it like fun and enjoy yourself.

I've beaten good players without making a 30 break, just using effective tactical play. I've also lost to an excellent player who was struggling even though I was in top form. That was frustrating.
Yes that is what I have done. My second match was against Sharkster, he ran a 32 on me in the second game and won that game easy. I had a few lucky breaks where I took on a shot and missed and left him nothing. But we all know that's part of the game. I played him safe when ever I could. I know one of these days I am going to break through and start running some balls and when that happens I will be in good shape because I have spent the past three years playing safe and then not taking advantage of openings when I got them.

I feel relaxed, some guys get all nervous but with all my professional golf experience it really does not bother me. I know one of my major problems is I don't focus on the table and plan my attack as most people call it a pre shot routine. How do you make a shot when you don't no where you want the cue ball to go and what is your next shot. At home I practice this by using a disk that I move around the table from shot to shot. So first I decide what is my next shot and where I want the CB to finish then I decide where I need to strike the CB and how hard to hit the CB.

That's way to robotic Les, no wonder you struggle to make breaks.

Question - when you're playing your son how do you make breaks because you obviously don't put the disk on the table?

I just let them happen. Not really thinking about it. I know if I miss he isn't going to run 30 or 40 on me.

Yes so despite what you think you can't relax in tournaments because you're worried what your opponent is going to do, next time enjoy yourself and pretend you're playing your son

Why don't you try planning a shot and thinking about what you're going to do before you get down?

Yes exactly what I have to do Ted. Funny thing is I plan every safety shot before I get down but when I am in the balls I don't. It's like I get way ahead of myself and stop thinking.
