  • Midlands Masters qualifiers

FOUR Midlands snooker players have booked places in the last-16 of a national championship for players aged 40 and over.

The cueing quartet progressed through a qualifying tournament for the English Masters Championship at the Midlands Snooker Academy, Walsall.

Darryn Walker (Wolverhampton), John Rees (Ware, Herts), Jamie Bodle (Derby) and Graham Beardmore (Stoke) now face a trip to Leeds in December.

Walker dropped just one frame - to Rees - out of 13 and recorded the day’s highest break of 82 to top his five-man round-robin group.

Two-time runner-up Bodle won all five of his matches in a group of six. Beardmore, beaten only by Bodle, finished second.

Well done JJ (John Rees) a good friend who I know very well.
Struggling with the game currently, after 6 years away from it.
    92 centuries
    2 Maximums

8 more centuries, and I'll be a happy man.
