ONE of Wiltshire’s top amateur snooker players took the honours when the Cuestars South of England Championship Tour stopped off at his home club.
Seb Worrall dominated proceedings at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.
The only frame he lost all day was in a 3-1 semi-final victory over three-time rankings champion Jon Charlton (Surrey).
Worrall, who compiled a maximum 147 break on Stephen Lee’s practice table five years ago, pocketed the £80 prize money after a 3-0 win over EASB Premier Junior Tour player Ronnie Blake, who was making his Championship Tour debut.
Only once has Worrall failed to qualify for the knockout in his 12 outings in the past six years during which he has claimed four tournament wins.
Labeeb Ahmed - Blake’s clubmate from Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon - progressed from the group stages on his Cuestars debut and recorded the day’s highest break of 78 before going down 3-0 to Charlton in the last-eight.
In fact, all four Cuestars debutants lost in the quarter-finals. Matt Davis (Swindon) was knocked out 3-1 by Blake, Martin Luker (Swindon) was beaten 3-0 by Mark Wells (Bournemouth) and Josh Saywell (Woking) went out 3-0 to Worrall.
The second leg of six is at Woking Snooker Centre on Sunday, November 8.
