  • South Masters qualifiers

SIX snooker players from the South have booked trips to Leeds next month for the final stages of the English Masters (40+) Championship.

Bill Cornish, Aidan Owens, Nigel Howe, Paul Norris, Peter Delaney and Simon Dent progressed to the last-16 via a qualifying tournament at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon, London.

Cornish (Edmonton, London) and Howe (Basildon) both won all five matches in their respective six-man round-robin groups.

Norris (Crawley) topped his group despite going down 3-2 to Russell Huxter (Saffron Walden, Essex).

Owens (Lowestoft) lost to Howe but chalked up eight breaks of 40 or more in his 19 frames.

Delaney (Eastbourne) and Dent (Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex), both beaten quarter-finalists last season, finished runners-up in their groups.

Matt Ford (Bracknell) recorded the day’s highest break of 102.
