  • Leeds Pro am this Sunday

    Hi all,

It seems a bit bizarre to have been wanting to give the game up on Sunday to now having agreed to play a pro am a week later.

Just a quick question for the tournament goers, has anybody entered the pro ams in leeds? What can you tell me about them? Worth the trip? Many runners?

    Cheers

    Tom

Definitely worth the trip!!.. Northern Snooker Centre is a cracking venue.. tables in the back room have big bags.. tables around the "well" are quick and a bit "tighter".. get drawn in the well and its a real test!!

Lots of good pro's.. depending on PTC clashes.. Peter and Oliver Lines.. Gary Wilson.. Craig Steadman.. Dave Grace.. many others.. plus lots of quality local amateurs!

Usually 64 entries but again depends on the PTC's

I go most times, although not this week due to work commitments.as said you'll get all the Leeds based pro, plus steadman,Gary Wilson,Steven hallworth and hamad miah most times, then many very very good ametures.tables around the main table are all Riley aristocrats used previously in pro comps, the main table is a star.the tables in the back room are more the typical club tables.

Well worth a trip up. The club is absolutely beautiful & facilities are top draw. Standard has previously mentioned is good due to the pro's & good amateurs that turn up. The only negative for me when I've been is that the majority of those named above tend to only play on the silver legged Riley's & the Star table & it seemed they were always waiting to play on them. I've been a few times & only once have I seen Ollie Lines play on the outer tables. If you can cope with that. Make a trip up to Leeds. You won't be disappointed. Try not to compare it to SWSA though. That for me is the best around.

Also there is a plate round as well you can go into if and when you lose in the main tournament.

Thanks all, i'll be making the trip up Like you say Tony the SWSA is top drawer, I found the handicap comp in November to be a nightmare though, I had to give a lad 18 start and he had 60 first frame haha

Lol tomwalker147, the comps in Leicester have similar crazy handicaps but the lads at Breakers are spot on. Really nice friendly bunch & make everyone feel welcome. Tables are good too. That's another one worth a visit. £10 entry. Plate for 1st round losers

Excellent venue and very well organised. I'd recommend it to anybody.

I lost in the first round 3-1 after only really getting going at 2-0 down, got through the first plate round then lost 2-1 in the second round of the plate to a fluked pink (cruel game). A little frustrated with my performance, not sharp enough in the balls but safety was good enough to give me the chances that would usually see me win a frame in 1/2 visits.

I'll be going back and will be more competitive next time, I'll tailor my practice to get me sharp enough to take on the Q school hopefuls and pros who enter. very good standard and good to rub shoulders with the 7 or 8 pros who were there.

Any chance you could let me have some details of these comps so that I can add them to our calendar?

                  Thanks
