Spotted just 3 main tour pros competing in this one. Drago seems to be trying to get in a lot of match practice at the moment, also Woolaston is competing again.

But more scarily for everyone else Robertson is competing. Surely he will obliterate everyone seeing as he won 2 main tour events last year.

we shall see first how well Neil will be doing in Shanghai, who knows what mood and form he'll be in after it. What if he'll have physical or mental tiredness after return from China?

It is a disappointing entry given the prestige of the event and that part of the entry fees are donated to the Paul Hunter Foundation.

Main Tour pros in the field are:
        Neil Robertson
        Jamie O'Neill
        Steve Mifsud
        Tony Drago
        Alex Davies
        Joe Perry
        Gareth Coppack
        Ricky Walden
        Neil Robertson
        Leo Fernandez
        Jimmy Robertson
        Ben Woollaston
        Munraj Pal
        Mark Joyce

Thanks Janie. I just gave the draw a very quick scan before, and there are a few more main tour players than I first spotted. As you say though it is a bit dissapointing that there arent more.

Maybe that's because only a week later there will be Paul Hunter Classics in Germany?

Neil Robertson is entering twice? Surely thats a bit unfair.

IMO even if he is in poor shape, he will still be much stonger than any of the other entrants that I know of, apart from Ricky Walden who could give him a good match.

It doesn't guarantee Neil's win anyway. First I don't think the other MT players are so bad, and second, can't they have the best form of their lifetime, like Andrew Higginson did in Wales?

Yes, anything is possible, and the other players there arent that bad. But IMO Roberston is that good compared to the opposition there, after all he is amongst the very best on the main tour. If the bookies are taking bets on this I'm sure Robertson would be such a massive favourite that the returns offered on him winning would be extremely low.

Just thought I'd bump this up as the deadline for entries is tomorrow for the 2008 Open. Information is available on the englishsnooker website and entry is £60 for EASB members and £75 for others with a donation towards the Paul Hunter Foundation from each fee. Its a round robin format to begin with so your are guarenteed 3 best of 7 matches.
