World Ladies Snooker Season

There was a girl called Jaique Ip-Wan In (I think that is right!) who flew over from Hong Kong for the first ranking event of the season, the UK Championship and the Wytech Masters. Apparently, she was 2006 Ladies IBSF World Runner Up. She was beaten in SF of Masters by Emma Bonney 4-3 but won the UK Champ Plate.

I was watching her play some of her matches and I reckon she has a lot of potential. Nice solid cue action and great potter. I think we might be seeing a lot more of her in future. She said she enjoyed event and seemed keen to return.

Jaique Ip-Wan In is 27 and has a high match break of 61.

She speaks good English and enjoyed her trip to Derbyshire although she found it difficult to make the long flight on her own with no friends or coach.

It was her first tournament here.

Her trip was sponsored by the Hong Kong Billiards and Snooker Control Council and she would like to return if the HKBSCC will finance her.

She likes Mars bars and prefers to be photographer with her hair down.

As regards prize money:

The girls pay £30 to enter each event and prize money is paid out of that.

The only financial support the WLBSA receive at the moment is from Midlands-based IT company Wytech who sponsored the Masters.

Wendy Jans s’est qualifiée pour la finale du championnat du monde de snooker amateurs, à Korat en Thaïlande. La citoyenne de Bree n’a laissé aucune chance en demi-finale à l’Irlandaise Michelle Sherwin, battue 4-0. Jans, 24 ans, tenante du titre, sera opposée en finale à la jeune Anglaise Reanna Evans, 20 ans, qui a battu la Chinoise de Hong Kong Ip-Wan-In-Jaque 4-0 dans l’autre demi-finale. Il s’agit de la 4e finale consécutive de Wendy Jans dans un mondial amateurs. Elle a remporté son premier titre l’an dernier en dominant Ip-Wan-In 5-0 en finale.

This is all the more remarkable that it is the first time ever I see snooker mentioned in the online edition of "Le Soir" ... and it's about the Ladies ...

I am not one of the top lady players - I can regularly make breaks in the 70's and 80's in practice but sometimes struggle to make a break over 16 in a match! Sadly, 99% of males watching a reasonably attractive female playing a snooker or pool match (unless they are gay maybe!) are more interested in watching their bums when they bend over to take a shot rather than how good their cueing action is and their potting skills etc!!

When I played in my local pool league I used to have blokes coming up to me - even ones from my own team - saying things like "try and wear tighter jeans next time" and "I heard you were playing our team tonight and I think you have one of the best ar**s in the the whole pool league to I thought I would come along tonight specially to watch you"!!!!!!!!!!

I would much rather someone came to watch my snooker skills (not that I have many at the minute like!!! - one day hopefully) than for the above reason.

Oh and sorry Wolf ... by 'sexy' you meant us women clad in black pvc leather and kinky thigh high boots didn't u!!!!! lol
