Amateur snooker has not been much discussed on TSF. I hope this will change over time, as I enjoy reading about it, although I don't know much about it and therefore aren't able to post about it myself! But those of you who do, please keep 'em coming!

By 'amateur snooker' do you mean the 'serious' stuff like PIOS and other organised events, or is your interest in the local leagues and the like ?

I think there are some posters here who are involved with the PIOS events. Probably most notable is Janie from GSC who sadly doesnt get too much interest or encouragement on here whenever she does start threads on various events.

I'd say anything is of interest. Here in sweden we're just starting up our amateur game, with rankings and such. We have a lot to learn.

We have a first class league here on a national base. How is it in The UK? Also, lets say a first class league nationwide?

I guess that's what the PIOS is. The players have to fund themselves.

There may be others too though.

In my town we have a league made of 4 divisions - Super LEague,Premier LEague, Div 1 and Div 2. My team is currently 3rd in the premier with promotion to the super a distinct possibility. (I think we will do it) I also have the joint top break with 3 other players at the moment but I' m determined to win the high break trophy.

It's a really good website. I play in a local league and regularly use it to keep up-to-date with how my team are doing, how rubbish I am and how good players are that I am due to play. I would be interested in knowing how much the lower league people manage to play inter-league matches - not something I've encountered but wouldn't know for certain that it didn't happen.

well im a amateur and im 14...
ive played serious for 11 months and play in the local league where ive won 11 lost 2 so far and has made breaks of 36,34,31,30,26 in 13 frames
my highest break is 80 and i have made at least 40 breaks of 40
Not bad for 11 months
ive made about 20 breaks of 50 so my next step up is to get more consistant 60s
