  • Connie Gough ladies national championship

WOMEN’S snooker star Maria Catalano heads to Luton on Saturday keen to complete a hat-trick of Connie Gough National Championship titles.

Ronnie O’Sullivan’s 26-year-old cousin lines up with three-time world champion Reanne Evans at Rileys SC for the fifth ranking event of the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association season.

Mother-of-one Evans, whose 35-match unbeaten run was ended by Emma Bonney at the South Coast Classic in Eastbourne earlier this month, hopes to return to winning ways before the World Championship in May.

Bonney (Portsmouth) became the fourth different ranking event winner this season when she gained her first ever title at Eastbourne. Evans (Dudley, West Midlands) won the UK Championships in Derbyshire, Katie ‘Hooray’ Henrick (Bickley, Kent) triumphed at the East Anglian in Cambridge and Catalano (also from Dudley) potted her way to victory at the British Open in Rushden.

Youngsters Hannah Jones, 11, Joanne Davies, 15, and sisters Georgina, 15, and Charlotte Holloway, 14, travel down from Derbyshire.
