I am surprised nobody on this forum seem to care to discuss about the recent PIOS 1, and Belgian Bjorn Haneveer has won it!

Bjorn Hanneveer is incidentally the best Belgian player that is until Luca Brecel comes around. Kid is currently 13, made a 136 in competition and 19 maxis + a 148 in practice.

Luca's site is here http://www.brecelluca.com/index.php ... in Dutch only unfortunately

Without what you brand "amateur snooker" there would be NO pro snooker ... those are the seeds

( bout of national pride while Belgium still exists, and where is Wim when we need him?)

Yes well done to Bjorn and I agree, amateur snooker doesn't seem to get discussed much on here

Yaya it seems in my opinion to be a much tougher series this season.

Don't forget that Tony Drago's in the PIOS this year...

Yes, but he didnt even make the first round of event 1, as he LOST in the preliminary round of that !!

                    It is nothing strange.
Robbie Williams is much better than Drago at the moment.
To be honest there is 30-40 better players than Drago and all other "old heros" .

Yes, the PIOS is very strong this year, and Tony losing to R. Williams wasn't a surprise really, although it was very unlucky that they had to play in the prelims (there are no seedings), as both are very good players IMO.
I also think that Tony doesn't really practice snooker anymore, it is quite surprising that he even entered PIOS, but it looks like he still enjoys playing. However, if there will be a clash of dates between a PIOS event and a bigger pool tournament, I'd expect Tony to take part in the pool competition.

Level difference between 49-96 in main tour and top 32 in Pios does not exist!
Bjoern Haneveer was regulary in Main Tour.He was in last 16 of European open few years ago. So please don't make me laugh.
But to be honest many people on this forum are ignorant about the game. They only see O'Sullivan,Selby,Higgins and few more.
I'm sure that if Main Tour events will be unseeded many of your heroes should start to play pool billiard to earn some money.

Well ive never seen a pios match first hand so its hard for me to say for sure. But it seems to me that many players who do very well on the PIOS, aheaod of most of the field by miles, then go on to struggle on the main tour. 'Famous' example from a couple of seasons ago - Steve James.

This suggests there must be a big difference in standard.

was a bit of a sweeping statement to suggest nobody was interested when i would guess that many actually are. i follow the pios quite closely as i know a couple of lads who compete in it, its also good to track the young up and comers, the likes of wells last season and michael white this year.

there is a hell of a diffrence between between the top PIOS players and players ranked 49-96 on the main tour, as can be seen by the amount of players who year in year out jump between the two tours.
