this is why the game is in tatters, heard susan side tonight, and to stop anybody giving coverage of a game thats almost dead and buried gives serious doubt about the people running it....

Look at the potential that this site has... thinking about the active members on here, how the hell can the WPBSA ignore thousands of regular users every day? Then think about people that don't post and are content to read articles posted here. It makes sense to have someone reporting live from tournaments. Since being on here I've met up with several members, even played a couple of people abroad when I was travelling. It just shows how much the site can offer to everyone. I've also been to an excellent coaching day organised by TSF... now lets compare that to the worldsnooker website and what it has to offer, the only innovative feature is the live-scoring and at times it's very unreliable. Thinking about it.. is it really that innovative in this day and age? Going back to Noels post.... there is so so much more that could be done for the game.

I think the qualifiers being shown on 110sport.tv is a decent move... there definitely needs to be more interaction between the governing body and the worldwide audience that love the game. Come on make a move in the right direction for once. There are millions of people around the world that want to get involved with the game. I feel that the current 15 red format doesn't need adjusting too much... just sort out the promotion of it first before worrying about other versions of the game.

Absolutely disgusting that. Me and Suzy did some press work at the Crucible and World Snooker were pretty bad with handing the accreditation out then too. TSF is one of, if not the most popular snooker website on the net and for them to deny us access is scandolous.

        TSF> World Snooker

When they revamped the World Snooker site it nearly burned out my cpu with one of its 'glitches'! They should be grateful that TheSnookerForum and Global-Snooker have a strong presence because the exposure can only benefit the sport, and besides any organisation that thinks they can have a monopoly on the internet really is out of touch. Hopefully they will realise that having Suzy there reporting on matches is a good thing for them and they will give her access to the UK.

does it matter if a homeless guy on the streets of london with no journalist experience helps to promote the sport.....

you dont need journalist experience to know what you like and how to put it down on a forum or site....

susy should be welcomed with open arms and embraced by the governing body for taking a interest and wanting to spread the gospel of snooker to people online.

this makes me bloody angry like you wouldn't believe.

In this case a little bit less so far.

Sadly Andrew I am not surprized.

                The state of snooker mismanagement.
The shutting out of "outside" reporters.
Even here on TSF, the summary banning and pre-modding of members for what?
As you correctly pointed out in an earlier post:

the idea that our chosen representative should not be granted press accreditation reminds me distinctly of Nazi Germany.
It’s an attempt at censorship plain and simple. An affront to our right to Free Speech.
This kind of subversive, controlling behaviour reminds me to point out that
while you cannot judge a book by it's Cover...

... you also cannot judge a book by it's Title.

I daresay the people who turn a blind eye to this kind of creeping totalitarianism are also
those who think that "Animal Farm" is a story about barnyard animals.

                PLEASE EVERYONE HAVE YOUR SAY!
                SNOOKER MATTERS!

if we allow this kind of behaviour to go on unquestioned I am 100% sure snooker will be worse as a result.

I also find it unsurprising that the authorities once again are flexing there controls in an entirely inappropriate display of idiocy, they seem to believe that everything will be alright if they continue blithely on and keep there hands not only firmly on the tiller, however those same hands also control the pursestrings and in the end money talks. They will continue to get away with this and more provided people never get together and tell them to go and ruin something else and let someone with both the skill and thelove for the sport to do the job of rebuilding the sport that they have crippled with the nazi like oppression they have excercised. One of the first things that snooker needs is not just the fanbase it has now but the new blood to come in and the only way that they are going to get this is publicity, by every means possible, quite simply get the word out that the sport is still here and it needs support. Denying the accreditation to any journalist that would put a spotlight back on our beloved SNOOKER is the move of a suicidal board then surely. I hope this is not to disorganised a post just having a little rant at the sheer unfairness of Them and They.

I really cannot understand how the board that behaves like this gets voted back in every time ,
who exactly is allowed to vote?
                      is it just the players?
Do they honestly think the People currently running professional snooker are doing a good job or are just completly apathetic?

Not sure how it works, but not all 96 pros on the ranking list are entitled to a vote.

The big problem is the players themselves do not attend the AGMs to exercise their own vote plus there is also the added dis-incentive that any vote against the present board might have serious consequences to their snooker career.

According to SnookerScene the other thing that happens is the present board gathers in the proxy votes of those voting players who don't attend the meetings and of course uses them to vote for themselves.

The WPBSA is anything but democratic. I'm not sure if the votes are confidential or not, but they should be in order to overcome the perception amongst the players that voting against the status quo would have serious consequences for them.

Also, I just cannot see the reason why the WPBSA would want to block any legitimate reporter. All of this is in SnookerScene and every month Clive publishes another example or two of how the WPBSA is grossly (my opinion) mis-managing professional snooker.

To those who are against the SPA I would ask 'can they do any worse than the present system?' I think that would be very difficult and the WPBSA must actually work at trying to screw things up so royally.

Well I felt a lot of what I would have said had already been covered by other people in this thread personally.

Its just another example of the terrible mis-management of snooker. To be honest I was fuming when i heard of this. I think we should send some of Suzy's grand prix articles to world snooker and then have them tell us she doesn't deserve accreditation. I thought they were some of the best snooker articles that I had ever read personally.

I've not got anything to add to be honest, those who have commented already have covered everything.

Not much surprises me these days when it comes to this kind of thing unfortunately.
