Sticking in my uneducated nose here....
Just finished reading Alex Higgins auto-biography, and obviously a lot of references to Barry Hearn - in my opinion it seems that after huge success with Steve Davis he is knowlegable on snooker and its economics etc. And i believe that he will not transform this game into a circus as some forum members believe.
But i've just recently got into this sport seriously...so my opinion could be seen as worthless

superaussie:
So you don't like either Sir R or Hearn? Who else is there? It's too late to submit nominations as they closed in June.
You seem to be one of those people who complain about everything but never come up with a solution of your own.
Give us a solution which you feel would work. There must be someone you like who you think could run snooker (besides yourself that is)

I think souwester is correct and the business cannot be run well by an ex-snooker player unless he happens to have received an MBA and successfully runs his own large international sports business.
From what I've seen of Terry's career (he was once on the WPBSA board) I doubt very much he would take the position of Chairman even if he was offered it. He is pretty busy with commentating and coaching (to the point where I will be one of his students in January)
Incidentally, I hope you have all realized that being Chairman of the WPBSA is a PART-TIME job, right? Sir Rodders only works a TOTAL OF 4 DAYS A MONTH!!!!! And for that he does get a damn good salary and benefits. Imagine, if he worked 5 days a week at the job his pay would be in the millions and the game would likely be in much worse shape!

Why wouldn't we give marks, say 1 to 10, to the possible chairmen?
1 (proved) competence (business)
2 competence (snooker)
3 dedication
4 trustworthiness
5 communication ability
feel free to add other criteria.
