I agree. I recall that Alex Higgins, for whom Steve Davis and Barry Hearn were arch enemies, actually asked Hearn to be his manager in the late 80s. I know Higgins' judgement can be questionable, but I think this says a lot about how well respected Hearn's abilities were in the game. At one point I think Hearn managed around 10 of the top 16 players including Jimmy White, Terry Griffiths, Cliff Thorburn and Dennis Taylor.

Who said that? For now they will carry on as started, until they get a new board and see how to re-develop the sport... Do you think they will lose BBC and Eurosport's broadcasting?

Because you really believe you would have had 15 rankers? Those were only plans ... without sponsor money to back it. You're unreal.

Superaussie, it was all political rubbish....Walker did it to save his skin and by looks of it a few people bought it.

So, is it confirmed that Walker is out then?

I'll admit I've only been following this for a few weeks, and I'm a bit unsure of what happens next, assuming Walker has been voted out.

Is the position effectively in limbo until a new chairman is elected, and if so when/how would that come about?

                          When would Hearn step in?

Apologies for my ignorance, I'm just trying to get the whole situation in perspective.

The game definately needs something or someone new to get it back on track. It needs money, sponsors, and all the rest.

Is this happening, or am I being a bit optimistic?

I would have thought alot of red tape is involved here.

Could somebody give me succinct lowdown on what's what?

There are now two directors left. They must now co-opt new directors to the board to assist with the running of the company, or alternatively to allow them to resign if they so wished, leaving the new dirtectors to carry on.

During this process the current directors would appoint a new chairman from the revised board. In all of this Hearn would need to be asked to come on the board by the remaining two directors as a co-option

However, the members always have the option to call an EGM to make further changes to the board if they so wish.

The 2 remaining board members will ask for nominations and will appoint a chairman of their choice and will also appoint a pro player of their choice.

As Barry Hearn has made his intentions clear and obviously the members of the Snooker Players Association carried the vote today it would be smart if the 2 remaining board members consulted with the SPA and Barry Hearn would be nominated with perhaps Steve Davis or else John Higgins being appointed to the board as the pro player.

I woluld say the best bet would be Steve as John is still concentrating totally on his snooker and likely wouldn't want to become over involved with the politics associated with the WPBSA plus he may have the fact that he's a board member effect his own decision making at a time when everything he decides should be focused on his very successful snooker career.

However, all that said, the 2 board members can decide whatever they like but if it doesn't meet the obvious wants of the majority of the players then they themselves will face a vote of 'no confidence' shortly and will be off the board themselves leaving whoever they appointed to run things if their appointment doesn't also get a no confidence vote from the 72 voting players.

The WPBSA is, after all, the pro players association and I believe they will get their way in the long run, but it might take a year or so to sort things out unless the 2 board members see the light and go with the SPA's wishes
