My thoughts on the John Davison proposal.
As you all know any member can put a question for Barry Hearn to me and he will answer it, it is as easy as that but this is not the case with John Davison! I emailed him last week to see if he would answer some questions regarding the proposal and this is what I got back.
I have forwarded this communication onto Barry Hearn and this is what he has sent back to me.
So basically John Davison does not want to answer questions regarding his proposal from the press or The WPBSA, what does that say? well it says alot to me.
I have sent John Davison a email today asking if he is attending the meeting tomorrow and I have not yet had a reply.
Tour Money
Take a look at both proposals and you can quite clearly see the money differences, and to be honest it is not a huge amount in it, but the main difference is that Barry Hearn can backup where his money is coming form but John Davison has not even mentioned or named 1 single sponsor for any of the events. Does he think that if he gets in then Barry Hearns contacts will stay on board? he must be having a laugh if he thinks that it true.

My Questions for John Davison
Q. How many sporting events have you arranged in the past involving this number of professional players and money at stake? I ask this as I can find no record of any sporting events you are organised
Q. Have you spoken to The CBSA, IBSF, EASB, EBSA or any of the other associations regarding your proposal and if so what are their reactions to your proposal? I ask this question as I do not think you have spoken to anybody within the Snooker world and got peoples opinions, Snooker is going into Europe and Asia and you will need the support of the associations in these areas, if you have not spoken to them then you are shooting yourself in the foot before you have even begun.
Q. Where is your funding coming form? I ask this as we all know where the funding for Barry Hearns proposal is coming from
Q. Regarding this quote taken from a Press Association interview - "Having been both a successful athlete and a successful businessman I also really understand the balance that all sports need to achieve between commercial success of a sport and the fact that at the heart of each sport you always have a game that people - grown-ups and children alike - love to play.
But what I see in snooker is a game that has a huge heritage, is loved by many people but is in decline. It has failed to overcome the loss of tobacco sponsorship, has declining broadcast and sponsorship revenues and limited international presence."
Successful businessman and athlete! ok great please can we have a list of the companies you have been involved with, at what level, at what investment and where are these companies now?
In decline? is it? sorry but since Barry Hearn got voted on to the board of The WPBSA it has picked up quite alot, record ticket sales at The Masters and World Championships, first sponsor for The Welsh Open since tobacco companies had to pull out of the sport, new events in Germany and Europe, better relations with The CBSA (Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association), Betfred willing to back The World Championships for another 5 years.
Sorry but it is picking up not in a decline, maybe he should read a news paper every now and then after all is he not retired? he should have enough time to read a paper. (Just don't read The News of the World)
Q. Have you ever been to a Snooker match because I have never seen you at one or heard you name ever being mentioned before in relation to Snooker?
Q. Do you intend on paying your board in Oreo's or Gummy Bears? going by your figures you will be out of business in 18 months.
Q. How do you intend on guaranteeing the prize money proposed if you do not get any sponsors? are you going to pay this out of your own pocket? and if you are how long are you willing to pay out for before you resign?
Q. Just to clarify how much are you proposing to pay yourself and staff?
Q. If you do get the vote by the membership, should the players who are ranked 65 to 96 ask The WPBSA to launch an investigation into bribery over the cash sums you are offering the top 64 players? and if so should the top 64 players and your board be suspended whilst this happens?

Whilst I would love to answer the many questions that I know everyone involved in the game has about me, my team and our offer, the WPBSA Board has asked me not to do that at this point. Hopefully, they will soon decide and make clear what process they feel is in the members very best interests going forwards. Once they have done that, and assuming they allow me to do so, I would be delighted to discuss our offer over the phone or in person, but until the WPBSA Board takes those steps, I will just have to continue to be patient.
This is rubbish John Davison has been invited many times to attend tomorrow to answer various questions. He still has not even answered our questions from his proposal !
