Leo Fernandez We caught up with Leo Fernandez (Current ranking 74th) who has played at Jesters Snooker Hall in the past and asked him a few questions.
Q1. What has been your favorite competition to date? and why?
A. The world chanpionchip because I made the last 32 and everybody wants to win the world.
Q2. What other sports are you interested in when you are away from the snooker table?
A. I’m rarely away from the table but I like most sports, particularly Golf and Football and Poker .
Q3. Have you always played with the same cue? Or have you changed over the years ?
A. I’ve had eight cues, it’s battered my head every time!!
Q4. Do you have any tips for our young players at Jesters ?
A. Practice makes perfect, which everyone will tell you but I also say “make up your mind before you play each and every shot, keep committed”
Leo at the table Q5. How often do you practice for ?
A. 4 hours a day, 7 days a week. If not more.
Q6. You recently had an accident in Blackpool , what was going through your mind at the time of the accident? And when are you going to back on form to play ranking games again?
A. I thought my career was over and I thought that I’d lose my leg, I was mostly concerned in that order.
Q7. What would you like to see happen with the way Snooker is run and sponsored over the next ten years?
A. More sponsers, more tournaments, better player/member benefits, subsidies for people from disadvantaged backgrounds and I would like to see the game opened up for all to play in all the ranking events giving everyone a fair chance.
